Pilgrimage from Stiklestad to Nidaros with Mindfullness and Qigong
New dates: 30th August – 6th September 2020
Stiklestad Pilgrim Center invites you to a pilgrimage from Stiklestad to Trondheim through the historic and beautiful Trøndelag landscape. On this guided walk, you will enjoy wonderful nature-based experiences and gain knowledge of the region’s rich cultural heritage. You will also learn simple Mindfulness and Qigong exercises to increase your attention and deepen your experiences on the trip.
Walking in the pilgrims’ footsteps can be a spiritual journey as well as a beautiful nature-based experience. On the way to the Nidaros Cathedral, you will be part of a fellowship, learn fascinating history, visit traditional pilgrim hostels and eat local food. We emphasize experiences to stimulate reflection and joy. Our walk through a changing landscape invites conversation and reflection. We will learn and use Mindfulness and Qigong techniques daily.
Viking age history is rich in this part of Norway. We use Trøndelag’s history and archaeology to learn about the transition from paganism til christianity in the time of St. Olav. We will also learn about myths and traditions of plants and nature, many of which are linked to St. Olav himself.
We start our pilgrimage at Stiklestad on Sunday 14th of June with a welcome dinner and a guided tour of historic Stiklastadir, a reconstructed medieval farm with a longhouse and guest loft from the time of St. Olav.
We walk approx. 20 km per day wearing a day pack. Hilly terrain, no mountains. The path is a mix of gravel roads, asphalt and forest paths.
Accomodation at the hotel the first night. Bring a sleepingbag. There is no accomodation the day we arrive in Trondheim. If you need accomodation in Trondheim, we recommend Nidaros Pilgrim Centre.
