UPDATE MARCH 2019: BOTH BRIDGES ARE NOW REPAIRED, AND THE PATH IS BACK TO NORMAL.
Due to work on roads and bridges, there are two important alternative path the pilgrims must use. It is not possible to pass trough the construction areas. These alternative paths are both marked with pilgrim symbols.
The first one is at Garnes, between Sul and Vuku. Holmen bridge in Vuku is closed the whole summer. It opens in November 2018. Pilgrims have to walk the road via Steine between Sul and Vuku. At Garnes, follow road 72 – Jamtlandsvegen – over the bridge, and then follow the road signs towards Stiklestad. Blue dots on the map below shows the new route.
Due to restoration work on the railroad bridge in the town of Verdal, the path along the river is closed until November 2018. The path passes under the railroad bridge. An alternative path is marked in the town, and on the map below.
When arriving from Stiklestad/Sweden, after crossing the river, continue straight forward and follow the markings (the path usually goes under the bridge you just crossed, along the river and then under the railroad bridge). Turn left in the roundabout and continue on the sidewalk. See the green dotted line on the map.
